Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello , my husband was having bad cough since 2 months . TB test comes negative. But symptoms are of TB. However he is being given ATT by Dr. more than a week now . He is having continues fever since 2 days with temp. more than 101 along with chills . Is this really TB or any other disease.
TB is diagnosed based on:
- Clinical findings.
- X-ray of the chest.
- TB test.
A severe cough along with fever if from TB it should have been diagnosed so far.
However, other pathogens should be determined based on sputum culture and sensitivity testing and X-ray findings along with the clinical examination.
Usually, if severe pneumonia, it might take longer to treat. Plus, as the immune system is reduced, patients are more prone to get viral infections more frequently.
Close evaluation by lung specialist is highly recommended.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
